Vape Maintenance Tips for Vape Mods

Whether you own a vape pen or a customized vape mod, you will always want to treat your device with respect and take care of it. Maintaining a vape mod is not all too difficult and if you wish to get the best life span out of your vape it is highly recommended that you do some general maintenance every once in a while.

One of the most common issues that can occur with vapes is that you can spill some of the e-liquid on the connector, which leads to condensation. It is good practice to clean the connector every time you remove the atomizer using a Q-tip or a small cloth just to wipe away the moisture. If you leave the residue in there it could begin to corrode pieces of your device, which is something you certainly do not want. For the most part this is the only maintenance you will have to do if you use a basic mod that has a built in battery.

If you are using a mod that has an external battery you will have to clean the positive and negative contacts every now and again. For this you will want to use something mildly abrasive like an SOS pad or steel wool. Mechanical vape mods are different beasts all together and they will require a bit more maintenance. Because they are built primarily of metal tubes, the tube oxidizes which means they need to be cleaned every once in a while, most likely every few months.  You will need several items for this cleaning process, including, a drill, warm water, detergent, cleaning paste, metal polish and a microfiber cloth.

The first step in this process is to take the mod apart and place all mechanisms in warm water and detergent to soak. Use some of the cleaning paste and rub it on each piece with a cloth. Using a toothbrush or a microfiber cloth, continue the process of cleaning all the pieces. Then use the metal polish and shine it up until it looks new again. You can use a similar process to clean the other pieces of your mod.

Just as you would care for any other piece of equipment in your life you should be doing regular maintenance to your vape. This will extend the life span of your trusty friend and make sure that you are only using a machine that has been properly cleaned and cared for.
