Guide to Variable Voltage / Variable Wattage Mods

Guide to Variable Voltage / Variable Wattage Mods

Welcome to our guide to variable voltage and variable wattage mods. Vaping used to be a new and extremely experimental idea. A lot of its ingredients and ideas were not very well researched making vaping expensive and risky. In recent years however this has changed making vaping cheaper and more accessible to those interested in trying it.

What are Variable Voltage / Wattage mods?

Put simply Variable Voltage (VV) and Variable Wattage mods (VW) are battery powered vaping devices that use circuitry to manage their output in two key ways; adjusting the voltage, adjusting the wattage. This acts to protect both the user and device from random surges of power and the damage that could come with such an event. Their built in safety features often make them great for all vapers from beginners to long time veterans. They used to be extremely rare and expensive but luckily for vapers to day there is a wide variety of them out for fairly low prices. This makes Variable Voltage and/or Wattage mods a very good investment for vapers for safety, maintenance and general usability.

Why should I even bother with Variable Voltage / Variable Wattage Mods?

VW and VV mods can customize the output of your vape in various ways allowing you to use a variety of atomizers with different resistances, coil types while remaining relatively safe. Additionally controlling the output wattage and voltage on a vape allows you more heat allowing you to manage vapour release with each hit be they long or short.

What are the built in safety features of a Variable Voltage / Variable Wattage Mod?

Many VVs and VWs have strong built in safety features making them excellent choice for both the cautious and the new.

  • Reverse Polarity Protection: This is a nice built in safety feature that protects the vape and the user from harm by preventing the device from using wrongly inserted (backwards) batteries.
  • Over Charge/ Discharge Protection: This built in feature prevents the mod from firing up should your batteries be overcharged or discharge. This could prevent an explosion and save a device and potentially a batter.
  • Thermal Protection: This built in features disables the device should it get too hot.
  • Short Circuit Protection: This built in feature prevents your device from catching fire should it short circuit which could save you from 1st to 3rd degree burns down the line making this a very handy feature.
  • Min/Max Resistance Protection/Limits: This built in feature prevents your device from firing an atomizer of which the coils resistances are either too high or too low for the device to safely fire. This feature is excellent for those of us trying to experiment with coils.

These safety features make VW and VV excellent for both newbies and veteran vapers. Be it for either experimentation or trying your first vape.
Wow that sounds great what could possibly be bad about them?

Unfortunately like everything in life safety has a cost. There are a couple downsides to VW/VV vapes that are worth considering for convenience.

  • Size: One problem with extra parts is that you have to put them somewhere. This means that VV and VW mods will have a hard time being small and convenient. Luckily the size isn’t increased by much and this can be ignored if you’re not too concerned with people asking if you’re that happy to see them.
  • Durability: These components are made from circuits and wires and stuffing more of them into a small space will have a negative effect on durability. Vapes with VW or VV mods will have many more problems with durability than a standard vape would.
Conclusion on Variable Voltage / Variable Wattage Mods

In conclusion VW or VV mods are great for beginners and those looking to test their coils and atomizers. For anyone looking for safety and controlled vaping VV or VW mods may just be the route for you. They’re generally more versatile than temperature control mods and with all the built in safety features you’ll be more able to fiddle with your mod. The vaping community has become well known for its fiddling and technology. What was expensive and rare today could become the common in a year so it’s best to keep on your toes and watch for new innovations. If you got yourself one of these then I don’t think I need to tell you but have fun and stay safe.

A VV/VW Mod at it’s simplest is a battery powered vaping device that uses circuitry to regulate its output power and allows adjustment of it’s output power in two ways: 1. By adjusting the voltage. 2. By adjusting the wattage. Additionally these devices employ protection circuitry to provide a wide variety of safety features to protect the user and/or prevent damage to the device itself. The safety features of VV/VW Mods make them a fantastic device for new and veteran vapers alike. I am thankful that I found this kind of blog that explain and helps vaper like me to become aware and knowledgeable about vape.
