If you have only ever used a portable vaporizer or old fashioned, no electronics options for dry herbs, you my friend are missing out on a whole other level of vaping experience. Let me introduce you to the desktop vape.
Desktop units are more powerful than their portable counterparts. They are also bigger and generally more expensive but that is because they are designed for vapour quality and performance over portability and discretion.
With no batteries to charge, as long as the power is on, you get consistent performance from a desktop unit every time. You also end up with great efficiency because a desktop doesn’t have to sacrifice a thing in order to be small, portable, discreet or trim.
My pick for the top vaporizer on the market in this class is the Storz and Bickel Volcano. The first on the market, the Volcano vaporizer has been around 18 years. The Volcano Digit is essentially the same machine in a digital version. This desktop unit is made of high quality material and some users have had theirs for a decade and going. It is a hot air convection unit that gives huge, flavourful clouds of vapor production from dry herb, oils and waxes. It’s a very versatile machine. It really couldn’t be easier to use either. Plug it in, turn it on, load it up, wait for the light to come on and press the air button to fill your food grade balloon. You can choose from either an easy valve option or a solid valve option for the balloons that capture and store all that amazing vapour. To clean it, you either dispose of the easy valve and start with a new one and cleanout the filling chamber or you clean out the filling chamber, take apart a solid valve and soak it. I prefer the solid valve myself but I can be a bit nostalgic. It doesn’t matter whether you choose the Volcano Classic or the Volcano Digit, the easy valve or the solid, you are getting a reliable, quality, vapour producing, work horse. You can purchase either Volcano at the Herbalizer Store.
My pick for runner up is easily the Arizer Extreme Q. This is an improved and upgraded version of Arizer’s Extreme. With this herbs-only desktop unit you get precision temperature control, a three speed fan (so you determine how quickly the air moves vapour and how much vapour is produced), and a whip made from glass and medical grade silicone. The Extreme Q can also do balloons. It looks like an expresso maker I had in university, honestly but it comes with a remote control and is near silent when it’s running. Arizer builds quality and this is no exception. The glass vapor path on the Extreme Q really improves the flavour of the vapour and so does the ceramic heating chamber. You will get big clouds of beautiful vapour that won’t disappoint with this machine and all at a great price! Look for the Arizer Extreme Q in the Herbalize Store.
You can’t go wrong with either one of these desktop vaporizing units and a choice between them really comes down to what price you are willing to invest in the best vapour experience you could possibly have.
