It is therefore prudent to learn more about nicotine before deciding on a nicotine strength that is right for you. When browsing our online vape store UK, note that each e-liquid comes in varying nicotine strength ranging from 0mg, 3mg and sometimes 6mg. For many years, the general public and scientists have been aware of dangers associated with smoking and conventional tobacco use. Smoking is known to be the leading cause of preventable death across the world. When it comes to nicotine, there are two conflicting schools of thought but the nicotine discourse is taking the direction of nicotine benefits. If you were to ask a public health agency whether nicotine is bad for you, the safety of nicotine changes depending on the context. If you are discussing pharmaceutically procured nicotine used in tobacco replacement products, the public health agency would not have an issue with nicotine. Yet, when the discussion comes to nicotine in electronic cigarettes, nicotine all of a sudden becomes bad for you. There seems to be a double standard to nicotine that has added to the confusion. It is politically incorrect to be championing nicotine in one form and demonising it in another.
In fact, nicotine has some very positive potential. It is important to note that a nicotine molecule has the same shape and size as a neurotransmitter (acetylcholine). Nicotine behaves in the same way as a neurotransmitter and can release dopamine and other additional neurotransmitters. The American Academy of Neurology found that nicotine can help to treat neurological disorders.

More recently, researchers have cast their focus on nicotine, a horribly addictive chemical found in cigarettes. However, the scientists are not conducting research to determine the bad aspects of nicotine, but are rather focusing on the benefits nicotine can afford to people with certain conditions. Studies have been carried out over the past decade into the health benefits of nicotine. A major breakthrough in these studies has been the positive effect on those suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. At first, scientists observed that smokers were less likely to develop Alzheimer’s disease than non-smokers. This observation led to the discovery that it was in fact, nicotine, and not smoking helped to reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s disease. Tests were carried out where Alzheimer’s disease were given a placebo or nicotine patches for a period of six months. At the end of the experiments, patients who were given nicotine showed an improvement in cognitive functions, including attention span, memory and decision-making compared to the patients who were given placebo.

Nicotine has further been shown to help with other cognitive-related issues listed below.
Nicotine has also been shown to help several other cognitive-related issues, such as:
Schizophrenia: Studies in Germany, Canada and the US have shown that nicotine can help Schizophrenia sufferers with their ability to focus.

Parkinson’s disease

A study by Vanderbilt University’s School of Cognitive Medicine has shown that Parkinson’s disease occurred three times more often in non-smokers than smokers. It was shown that nicotine stimulates dopamine in the brain, which can in turn ease tremors and tics associated with Parkinson’s disease.

Tourette’s syndrome

Tourette’s syndrome sufferers showed a lessening of tic severity and frequency after chewing nicotine gum for ten minutes.

Depression

After using a nicotine patch, depression sufferers have reported a decrease in depressive mood. Nicotine helps to release dopamine in the brain, which can in turn provide an uplift in our mood. Since depression sufferers experience a lack of dopamine, nicotine is certainly beneficial in this case.
Diabetes: A study by Stanford University has shown that nicotine can encourage the growth of new blood vessels, which can open doors to new treatments for diabetes.

The Take Away

Nicotine is still the subject of major research and studies and it remains to be seen what these studies will yield over the next few years. For most, nicotine is perceived as an addictive substance that gets people addicted to cigarettes. Yet, nicotine on its own is not that addictive as most claim. Nicotine becomes more addictive when combined with thousands of other chemicals that are typically found in traditional tobacco.

What I gather is that e-liquids do not have the chemicals associated with tobacco ,right? Otherwise, you would mention that vaping is addictive because of the nicotine. Thus, it would make nicotine less harmless. A very intriguing article though, had no idea about positives of nicotine.

An interesting article. Turns out there is more to nicotine than we have known. I personally vape quite frequently so I buy my juice in 3mg maximum. It would be good if you introduced your juices in 1.5mg :)
